Mother's Devotional - Day 1
Devotional
Motherhood is one of the highest callings a woman can have. Why? Because we are called to raise up godly children to bring glory and honor to our Lord and Savior! There are so many duties that a mom is responsible for. You are a teacher, trainer, and nurturer to name a few. It's no small matter because you are a mom for life. It is said that when you have a baby, it's on your lap. As they grow older and you no longer hold them on your lap, they’re in your heart. Those of us who have gone through these stages can certainly agree with this old adage!
What prepares us for this career called motherhood? Certainly not Dr. Spock or other secular psychology books. It is the Word of God; the only authority and the final authority. Sometimes one may wonder “If only I could go back and do it all over again”. However, there are no do overs! Motherhood requires us to practice patience, love, and self-control. God is the ultimate example of a good parent! We need to emulate Him at all times.
Proverbs 22:6 says “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” Proverbs 9:10 tells us to “Teach them to fear the Lord. This is the beginning of wisdom and the knowledge of the holy is understanding”.
