We Are Setting the Table: Preparing for God's Presence

We Are Setting the Table: Preparing for God's Presence
Our church theme for 2025 is clear: We Are Setting the Table. This powerful message calls us to prepare our hearts, homes, and ministries for the presence of God. Just as we prepare our homes for a special guest, we should also prepare ourselves to host God's presence daily.

Worship is All About God
The foundation of setting the table begins with worship. We are reminded that worship has nothing to do with us and everything to do with God. When God is present, worship is the natural response. Worship shifts our focus from our circumstances to God's greatness, reminding us of His faithfulness and love.
"God is with us 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Whether we're awake or asleep, He is there."

Preparing for a Special Guest
Imagine inviting a special guest to your home. You wouldn’t let them enter a cluttered space, would you? You’d clean, organize, and create a welcoming atmosphere. In the same way, we must prepare our hearts for God's presence.
Preparation involves:
  • Spiritual Cleansing: Repentance and asking God for a clean heart.
  • Intentional Time: Making space for prayer, worship, and Bible study.
  • Creating a Welcoming Atmosphere: Inviting God into our daily lives with sincerity and reverence.

Obedience in Preparation
In Exodus 25:30, God gave specific instructions to Moses on how to prepare the table for His presence. The table was to hold the Bread of the Presence—a sacred symbol representing both Christ and God’s provision.

"The significance is not just in the materials used but in the obedience required to prepare the table as God commanded."

Are we being obedient in preparing for God's presence? Are we giving Him our best, or just what’s convenient?

Jesus is the Bread of Presence
The bread placed on the table in the Old Testament foreshadowed Jesus Christ. Today, Jesus is our Bread of Presence—our source of spiritual nourishment and eternal life. As we set the table, we must make Him the centerpiece.

“Jesus said, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.’” (John 14:6)

Setting the table means sharing Christ with those around us. What are we offering at our spiritual tables? Are we serving the truth, love, and grace of Jesus?

A Call to Action: Come to the Table
We have been given a powerful invitation: Come to the table. No matter where you are in life, the table is set for you. Whether you seek repentance, restoration, healing, or strength, God’s presence and provision are available.

Reflection: How are you preparing your heart to host God's presence this year?
As we continue through 2025, let's be intentional. Let's prepare our hearts, unite as the body of Christ, and make Jesus the center of everything we do. The table is set—come and experience the fullness of God's presence.
